Our skin is the perfect measurement for how old a person is. The wrinkles, blotches and lines often indicate that a person is getting older. Many people often resort to using different products and treatments to reduce the older look and try to have a more youthful appearance. This article will take a look at the glycolic acid peel, a treatment used to have younger looking skin.

Glycolic acid comes from the alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) and it is extremely powerful for treating the skin. This acid is derived from sugar cane and grapes. It is used in many different beauty and skin care products, based on the fact that it is a good at exfoliating the skin.

The Glycolic Acid Peel is mild and it is able to loosen and exfoliate the superficial top layer of the skin. Once this is done, the end result is skin that is toned, smooth and evenly textured. As a result of it being so effective, this acid is often used to treat skin that is wrinkled, blemished, blotchy, sun damaged, uneven and scarred from acne. It has the ability to reduce the look or totally get rid of these problems that affect the skin.

The process for treating the skin with one of these peels is quite simple. The peel is applied and removed and the patient sent home. After a couple of days the skin will begin to peel, revealing a new layer that will have the face looking younger. This peel can also be applied to various parts of the body such as the back, chest, arms, legs and face.

In the end, most people highly recommend the glycolic acid peel to get younger looking skin. It works very well and it is known to be effective at giving the face and body a more youthful look. This is one treatment that individuals should consider, especially if they want to turn back the hands of time.

The Best Products For Anti Aging – 3 Great Products You Must Have to Keep Your Skin Looking Younger

In age obsessed world where we all want to stay younger looking for longer, where do we begin?

I have had the privilege of speaking with many bio-chemists, scientists, cosmetic surgeons and beauty industry leaders over the past 15 years, as I have presented and sold a myriad of cutting edge, scientifically based skin care products on various home shopping networks around the world. After enormous amounts of research, hundreds of interviews, personal results and testimonies from women of all ages, these are my conclusions on what I feel are the best anti aging products you must use.

1. If your skin is not super-sensitive, use a GLYCOLIC ACID product with a high percentage (minimum 10%) on a regular basis. The glycolic acid dissolves the glue like substances that hold dead skin cells together, revealing fresher younger looking skin. It also allows moisturisers or other treatment products to penetrate more easily as the glycolic is like a super exfoliator.

When using glycolic acid creams, always use a moisturiser or foundation with a high percentage sun block over the glycolic, as the skin becomes a little sun sensitive.

Dont let the word acid put you off as this is a fantastic ingredient derived from sugar cane. In some clinical studies it not only helped reduce the look of fine line and wrinkles, but also helped the skins production of collagen, reduced the look of large pores and reduced acne scarring. A good Glycolic acid cream is a must have for any skin care junkie.

2. If you are not of child bearing age, include a RETINOL (vitamin A) based cream in your skin care regime. A good quality, stable vitamin A cream can do wonders for the skin. In many clinical studies, the skin appears smoother and firmer. Can we ask for more!

A cosmetic surgeon once recommended alternating between glycolic creams and retinol creams for maximum results. There are many new ingredients and products arriving on the market but the retinol and glycolic creams are tried and tested. Before using ANY retinol cream, read all the information as there are varying strengths and if the cream is particularly strong, you will need to be very careful of the sun. Use of retinol creams can result in dry, red, flaky skin before you see results. You will need to experiment until you find the best retinol cream for your skin. I have only started using retinols this year, at the age of 44 and I am delighted with the results.

(Try over the counter – Roc Retin-Ox…ask your pharmacist about other available retinol creams Or Talk to a doctor about prescription strength retinols. Cosmetic surgeries will often stock a high quality retinol that is gentler on the skin. )

3. STAY OUT OF THE SUN! – If you want a tan, use a fake tan. St Tropez is one of my favourites with a very natural colour. Experiment with brands to find what suits you. Tanning subjects your skin to massive doses of free radical damage, resulting in cell degradation–which means YOUR SKIN WILL AGE SUPER FAST! Tanning can also present a health risk.

I was born in Queensland Australia, which has the highest rate of skin cancer in the world. We have learnt from our mistakes and now Australians are very sun Savvy. Follow their lead. If you do go in the sun, use a physical block such as a hat or sun vest as well as a high factor sunscreen.

Sounds over the top? Not at all – just ask Madonna! Her philosophy is NO direct sunlight (even a bit obsessive for me) but you can see her skin looks great for over 50. The texture of her skin says she is not a SUN LOVER. Mind you… I think she could do with a coat of fake tan!
